Pros

Extremely exciting working with sports stats. Managers encourage thinking of solutions outside the box with newer technology allowing you to learn as you go.

Cons

The pay is way, way, way below market value especially when you take into account the cost of living in the Chicago area. You are essentially asked to take less money to work in a fun environment.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Not including boosting pay, it seems that some of the management is outdated. They do not keep up with current technology topics and some are absolutely useless when you ask very specific questions that is tech related.

    I worked at STATS

    Pros

Helps understand the sports you're watching a bit better.
    Easy work
You get to watch spots while you work
Objective (if very flawed) criteria for grading

    Cons

The way they grade games is largely not fair. There is no concession for a bad broadcast, and there is limited appeals process.
The pay is poor, unless you're scraping by
The method they use to collect stats off television is of questionabe accuracy

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I was just a reporter for them, not close to full time. Pay more money, and allow live reporters more leeway and ability to appeal suspect scoring decisons or things that could not be seen well on the television broadcast.
