Former Employee - Part of Internal IT Team in London, England (UK)

I worked at SThree full-time for more than a year

Pros

- Decent package, good work/life balance
- Some nice people to work with
- If you work as an agent, your possibilities are endless (if you have the skills and the guts)
- There are some good initiatives in the company, like encouraging and supporting more women in management
- Stable place, expectations are clear

Cons

- Very conservative and risk averse, especially in IT (upgraded from IE6 to 7 in 2012!)
- Very formal, no flexibility (Shirt and tie, even if you never meet client or business)
- Slow moving, marketing is a bit behind
- Old systems and solutions everywhere

Advice to ManagementAdvice

- Pay attention and reward support staff
- Work smarter, not harder
- Adapt new technology, because you're loosing money because of the old systems
- Make sure that feedback works both ways, some members of the middle management are horrible
- Corporate values are something you do, not something you talk about

    I worked at SThree

    Pros

Great learning ground - especially for recruiters who are new to the trade, highly developed recruitment system/tools, you can't help but get better/develop quickly in a highly competitive environment

    Cons

Micro-management culture, management lack emphathy, low base salary and unrewarding commission scheme, work-life balance is almost non-existent

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you want to be successful in Asia, you need to first understand the culture and way people do business here.
