I worked at SUNY Oswego part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Like I said, this is the best place I ever worked. I never would've left if I hadn't moved. The management was supportive and encouraging. They don't micromanage at all. They invite your ideas and give you the freedom to bring out your best talents.

    Cons

There's a whole lot of snow up around Lake Oswego. Be prepared for some harsh winters. Obviously, the pay could always be better. Even other SUNY schools offered better compensation. Still, I'd much rather take lower pay at Oswego than higher pay somewhere else.

    I worked at SUNY Oswego

    Pros

A pay check. SUNY Oswego has a union for their faculty.

    Cons

Lacks leadership. Senior Librarians are bullies towards staff and Jr Librarians. People yell and gossip and the Director does nothing about it. The Director also fears change. Any forward thinking ideas or creativity will not be supported or valued. There is no collabrative spirit and the library lacks trust. Worst . Place. Ever.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

In five to six years, once the bullies and the director retire it might be a wonderful place. Punish people for their awful behaviors.
