I have been working at SYKES full-time (more than a year)

Pros

Good people; great location(s); great presence in the community; great services to customers; great benefits.

Cons

If Sykes had a necromancer on their payroll, they would have no problem working you to death, reviving you and then working you to death again.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on work/life balance. Expand your flex commute options.

I have been working at SYKES full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Excellent Entry Level position, your tasking scales up as you learn more. The senior IT engineers are brilliant and very helpful and willing to teach if you're motivated.

    Cons

Operations and IT are constantly at odds. Operations side views IT as someone to blame when things go wrong, or an adversary needing to be overcome or manipulated. Senior IT management is nearly powerless to combat this and will regularly burn highly skilled and motivated engineers and support personal for political infighting and personal squabbles. There's no real upward mobility, outside local site IT, there's severe cronyism and nepotism at the higher levels, and skill is not recognized or rewarded. You're also grossly underpaid for the work you do, and they are not afraid to increase scope of responsibility without promoting to an appropriate position.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay your IT people what they are worth, and you might actually get quality IT teams, the good ones see the writing on the wall and leave.

I have been working at SYKES full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Great money for the little amount you have to do. Always offering overtime. Very good first time job.

    Cons

Must have loads of patience. Very favoritzed, if you aren't friends with a higher up, good luck trying to move up. Very frustrating job, never have any real help. Team managers don't really care about helping either, just like to sit around and do nothing.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Favoritism needs to be changed. The turn over rate at the facility is extremely high because of management. Also, When multiple people are having issues with the same TM, something needs to chage. They're is no shift changing either, which can be frustrating, especially those working the same shifts for 6 months straight from 4-1 or 12-9. Policies need to be enforced, because they never actually are. Some people can walk in with mini skirts and not have a word said to them, while others (who are not favoritized) get scolded or written up for it. Enough said.
