Pros

decent pay for starting out, not to live off of for the rest of your life

Cons

hour cuts, more expected, less time to do it

Advice to ManagementAdvice

clean up on poor management. If you have a dept or store manager that has problems with EVERYONE they are the problem, not everyone else.

I have been working at Safeway full-time

    Pros

Great people! Genuinely nice work atmosphere, where you can feel valued and empowered.
Nice perks, like a fantastic cafeteria. Company is a leader in employee wellness initiatives and loyalty marketing programs.

    Cons

It's corporate. Jeans are a special occasion. It's retail, so pace can be hectic. Salaries don't compete with the higher-flying tech world in the valley, but living expense are the same for all.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Foster more genuine open dialogue with your execs. Ask for some disagreement, encourage real discussion and seek real input from others on the big strategic ideas.
