I worked at Safeway full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

The customers and employees you develop relationships with. The pay as a manager is outstanding.

    Cons

6 day work weeks are poor business practices. Salaried store management is not union and therefore causes a lot of conflict with union employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do an Undercover Boss on some of these stores.....changes will only come then.

I worked at Safeway full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

I liked my coworkers, stable employment, flexible schedule in my department.

    Cons

While my coworkers where all good people the majority lacked work ethics and common sense. The pay scale is terrible for lower level employees so if you can't move up to a better position you are stuck making barely above min. wage.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take care of the guys lower down and balance the work load. These are the people working the hardest and often the ones who will be representing your company to the general public. If you tale care of them it will only have a positive overall impact on the overall business.
