Low rewards, benefits worse, and don't ever make a mistake

ProsSome good associates (co-workers), insurance consistent with the area; clean office; virtual machines for creating test environments; getting defects reported from customers in a timely manner.

ConsToo much micro management; highly paid execs who don't share the wealth; performance measurement too lofty and focuses on what you did wrong rather than right, no support for growth and/or career path, external product suppliers not held accountable for the quality of their product - quality level dumped on R&D rather than outside suppliers; marketing looks down on R&D and tends to make derogatory comments against some R&D staff; Thousands of useless emails, and too much fluff from management to try to prove their worth; spending thousands driving a motor home around to a handful of customers instead of putting the budget into producing quality products customers need; spending thousands renovating offices to create more noise in an already noisy office; some R&D groups lack follow through on defect fix creation.

Advice to Senior ManagementBe sure to congratulate employees on their successes when you demand a lot. You've taken away a lot of the niceties that Irvine used to have, yet you demand more and more from staff who aren't enjoying the financial rewards that are being enjoyed by executives. No more parties or celebrations, and when an employee has gotten stellar reviews for many years of bad economy, your execs got the great raise, but employees didn't...then when the employee has the bad year, you beat said employee down again. When did executives suffer for their bad decisions? Treat me no worse than you treat yourselves.
