I worked at Sage Products full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Benefits are very good. Vince is the most generous person who has a huge passion for his company and it shows. It's a company that you can be proud to work for because the products make a difference and the company gives back. Great place if you're looking for an hourly job and don't want to do much more.

    Cons

Newer President, Scott, is rude and only speaks to those who matter. I agree that it's not female friendly and really not minority friendly if you want to be anywhere outside of the shop floor. You MUST know someone to get ahead and must suck up to the right people once you get in the door. Brains are not valued nearly as much as the right connections on the inside.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Manage. Really know what you're talking about and learn your jobs. If you got there due to a family member or high school buddy, take the time to really learn your job and then mentor others. Stop hiring people because you know their dad - -- start looking for real professional talent.

    Time for some wealth redistribution

    Pros

now that the company has gone Private Equity, this section will have to stand at TBD

    Cons

Mark my words, as great a company as this was to work for, this company is now entering a whole new era; With private-equity at the helm, the days of good paychecks/bonuses are over - those bonuses/paychecks now need to go to the job creators that purchased the company (their needs are more important than those of the working class) and this too will become a company where people say that your raise is your job, and "....just be thankful to have a job..." etc.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I hope that the original leadership team continues to espouse the belief in their workers and in having a culture that rewards all employees for the success of the company.
