Sage Software – “Sage needs to change”
3 of 3 people found this helpfulPros
Some nice people, and good friendships. Pretty decent benefits plan.
Cons
There a lot's of "do as I say" style leaders willing to do whatever it takes to achieve an objective as long as that "whatever" does not require change or looking at problems in a different manner.
Every product offered by Sage is based on exceedingly outdated technology. Few web-based products and Sage completely missed the entire SaaS boat.
Sage rotates General Managers of their Biz Units in a manner that might lead you to believe that either there was something wrong with their hiring process or that GMs are scapegoats for poor strategc decison making.
Advice to Senior Management
1. Dump the Channel-Only approach. An estimated 97% of Partners are absolutey horrible. The decent Partners sell competitive products already. Truly, t Partners focus on services serves to drive the Sage product TCO up to the point twhere SaaS products delivered directly will ALWAYS beat Sage. Sell DIrect!!
2. Consolidate Products onto a single decent architecture and incent customers to migrate over to the new architecture.
3. Hire Sr. Leaders that are on par with those at good software companies such as Microsoft, Oracle, SAP and SFDC.
4. Ask your emplyees for feedback and then DO SOMETHING WITH IT. It is patronizing, not to mention wasteful of time, to ask for and to recieve feedback and to then not bake that feedback into the Plan!
