Sage Software – “Disjointed and lacking in focus...”
Pros
Compensation was good at Sage, certainly early on. And before the talent drain, employed some very bright people. Additionally, they were very generous to employees in terms of recognition and tokens of appreciation.
Cons
Due to the business model that favors acquisition over innovation, it seems to have a very disjointed mission and series of goals. And a definite 'milking' of customers is prevalent in their annual upgrade cycle.
Advice to Senior Management
Leverage the talent you have and stop buying things to fill small holes in your product portfolio. Truly build a suite of software that can grow with a business rather then various software solutions based on different code bases and incompatible back ends.
