Solid company, good benefits, good upper management, lacking leadership in middle management.

Line Haul Driver (Former Employee) Jacksonville, FL

ProsGood HR practices. Excellent compensation in their Line Haul division.

ConsMiddle management doesn’t seem to have a sense of best practices when it comes to employees. No flexibility when it comes to scheduling time off. Not much room for advancement, if you start off as a Driver you will not progress, the same with Dock workers etc.

Advice to Senior ManagementWith over 5 years as a City Driver and 2 years as a Line Haul driver I performed to every one of Saia’s metrics. Solid company to work for, but every terminal had the same problems…companywide morale was low; there was very little room for the employees to take pride in their work and to have ownership of anything. Micro managed to the degree of how are you loading your hand truck. I appreciated the high expectations, the work load at Saia is higher than most other LTL companies but we had no sense of ownership therefor leaving most folks to feel unimportant and undervalued.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company
