If you have Saks on your resume, you can pretty much go anywhere else! It's a great place to set a foundation for your career.

Cons

Very hierarchical. At the assistant level, there is not much interaction with senior management.

    Pros

    Great place to work lots of opportunity to make money. Great product to sell. Excellent workimg enviroment. respectful and concerned leaders.

    Cons

    they could have a better 401k match. the sales floor tends to be crowded sometimes.need to improve on product selection.

    Advice to Management

    keep up the great work continue working on product selection to improve the look of the store. Have a longer winter season before marking down sale items. maintain a better stock level. Never lose focus on the high end market. It is what your reputation is built on.

    Pros

    Great discounts, good people, solid brand. Talented people want to work here. Company is starting to make some good investments in its future.

    Cons

    Lots of corporate bureaucracy to deal with. Political vendors. Sometimes takes a long time to get things accomplished. High turnover of low to md level employees.

    Advice to Management

    Focus on the long term and follow through on initiatives. Don't focus on the "flavor of the month". Stick to your guns and give things time. Don't be afraid to make mistakes in the short term for the benefit of the long term.
