I have been working at Saks Fifth Avenue part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Double Discount Days, extra pay for credits, recognition for MORE cards registration, morning meetings where we discuss not just the day ahead, but the week ahead as well. Discounts at full-line stores, too. Allows for flexible schedules whether a mom, a student or a full-time specialist. They seem to care, but sometimes seem too busy to notice.

    Cons

Wish pay was better and wish reviews came regularly. When payroll is short, the floor is limited as to how many people will be on the floor...which can be quite daunting in a 25,000 sq. foot store. The management seems beaten down and can't seem to get out of the back office and onto the floor.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get out of the back office and out on the floor. Monitor what's going on with your merch team and the merch leader. When the leader is out of town, the store seems to run much more efficiently. Be there to participate, not just delegate.

Current Employee - Digital Tech in New York, NY

I have been working at Saks Fifth Avenue as a contractor for more than a year

    Pros

Good food (they offer breakfast and lunch to keep you happy fat and full), Good people (great bosses and great coworkers), easy work relative to most photo-shoots since everything is the same every day. No setting up lights because its the same every day.

    Cons

Not enough work and not enough pay. The pay for retouchers and digital techs is about 200 a day. Not enough to live comfortably in NYC and the work as retoucher is very fast paced (crank out those pics)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Add more staff.
