Pros

Great products. Great management. Great Customers. Customers adore the product and the company. Great social contributions.

Cons

Getting too big. All of the typical issues with a large company becoming slower moving, and being a little too restrictive.

    Pros

    * You get to switch teams once a while.

    Cons

    * Engineers are not being treated as well as in most other companies.
    * Weak leadership in engineering. CEO rarely discuss his vision with the engineers.
    * Lousy coffee, the #1 friend for engineers.
    * Not working on state-of-the-art technology problem.
    * Very few group activities for Engineers.
    * Very few tech talks for engineers to enrich their knowledge.
    * The technology used is very old, you're not very likely to keep in touch with the latest technology trend.
    * Not a good place for recent college graduations that wants to work on cutting edge stuff.
    * Compensation is not competitive.
    * There is an internal grievance board but no one is paying any attention.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    * Pay more attention to retaining talented people.
    * Show some respects to engineers. Try to promote innovation, collaborations, and encourage personal contribution.

    Pros

Great products that customers want and that actually work.

Unbelievable talented co-workers who feel like they are doing something meaningful.

Brilliant senior leadership, making the right strategic moves.

    Cons

Support (CFL) is spread too thin and is no longer meeting their commitments opening the door to competitive threats and attrition, making it difficult to earn the renewal bonus (~40% of variable comp).

Inconsistent territory assignment makes it difficult to build and execute a pipeline because you are constantly starting over, making it difficult to hit your quota.

Recruiting too many regional managers from IBM. Not the great thought and process leaders of the past, but rather the people who are best at managing their own managers; lead through fear and threats; and care more about themselves than their customers or team. They are not a resource to help sell, and more often get in the way altogether.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consistency counts. Define your coverage and support models before it's too late.
