Pros

If you have no other offers, then, it's a job.

Cons

Poor management - it all goes downhill from there!

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your employees and show them respect. You reap what you sow and treating people poorly only gives you poor workers.

    Pros

Great place to network with corporate or marketing professionals who are capable of surviving in a challenging, politically adverse corporate climate.

    Cons

Probably not the best place to work if you are a technical professional, as management is very financial / corporate / marketing focused.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Involve your technology departments in the dialogue to move forward with your plans - they will need to be intimately involved in order to succeed on the challenging path you are choosing.

    I worked at Sallie Mae

    Pros

Sallie Mae was a professional company, good benefits, nice work environment. Hired good people. Stock options across the company to all employees, exceptional.

    Cons

The government has really hurt Sallie Mae, the recent take over of the industry will hurt lending. Sallie tends to have many many layoffs.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Al was amazing during his first few years. I haven't seen the same aggressiveness since the government got so involved with the student loan industry.

    Approves of CEO
