I worked at Sally Beauty full-time (More than a year)

Pros

An opportunity that's great for freshers who are eager to learn more about administering employee benefits. You will have the opportunity to conduct the Benefits Orientation for all new hires, actively participate in Open Enrollment, as well as planning the Annual Benefits Fair. Sally's also had a merchandising sale for only the employees; I was able to get things for dirt cheap (Blow dryers, Flat Irons, Shampoo/Conditioner, etc.) that usually costs a lot in the supply stores.

Cons

Pay - but for a fresher, it should be in your range, hopefully.

Advice to Management

Management was great for the most part. I really enjoyed the management style.

I worked at Sally Beauty part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The company's products seem to get better and better. You get to sample full size products so you can sell them better. The employee discount along with ability to shop at cosmo prof and your sales incentives are awesome. The company has an empathetic customer service value, that keeps customers coming back. You have to be knowledgeable about all products before selling them.

    Cons

They over work you. If you are part time you can expect to get no hours to as much as 40 hours or more per week, with no benefits or extra pay. Management is lazy, and so are the people with seniority. The product prices are always going up, and most of them aren't worth the extra money. People want to save money. Corporate pays more attention to the entry level work and blames more on them then management. Corporate is cheap, Sally has no scanners or debit card machines. All employees are responsible for any theft and there are not enough secure ways to prevent it.

    Advice to Management

Have more respect for your store employees, and put more money into making their jobs a little easier and quit being cheap. Quit spending all this money on merchandising and put more into the stuff that matters, like new technology for your stores. If you are going to work your employees over 30 hours week after week after week, put them down as full time so they can have benefits or at the very least give them a raise.
