I worked at Salvation Army full-time (more than an year)

Pros

Working in IT, I was responsible for all of the Virginia offices. I had the freedom to schedule and maintain as needed. I also had lots of opportunity to give time in other ways to those who needed help.

Cons

Being a Non-Profit, the salary was below market. The benifits weren't bad. Sometimes the "Army" structure that was followed by some could go a little overboard. Not all of the officers followed the spirit of what the Salvation Army is about.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have frank non-religeous conversations with the employees below management level. Many of them are afraid to speak up and they are on the front lines and usually have the best ideas.

I worked at Salvation Army full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

25% discount, good health plan, better than nothin
    slighly

    Cons

Deeply rooted corrupttion leaving no one to turn to.
No one is monitoring the main store managers which allows for mistreatment and firing of any one for fabricated reasons if you were in the sights that week.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look in the mirror and talk to your self the way you talk to customers and/or employees and see what we see. They look your self in the heart and walk away.
