Pros

Employee oriented, work environment is structured towards taking care of the individual associate.
Associates may use the open door process with any member of management without fear of reprisal.
Everyone benefits from the efforts of the group if the store is profitable a bonus is given to all associates.
Good benefits package but better 401k and stock sharing for all employees
Good place to learn merchandising and sales practices.

Cons

Company needs to improve in training for managers not just outside hires. Training in technology, operations and area specifics need to be improved.
Better communications between home office (HO) and front line managers on programs being implement throughout the company. This communications should be across the board in all divisions.
Better pay and compensation for assistant manager, as job descriptions are change to encompass more responsibility compensation should increase along with it.
Better evaluation system for managers and improved career tack which will allow career progression faster and in more directions.

Revamp the managers career path, progression and pay structure.

    Look to your key employees that are getting the job done best, and make sure to compensate them accordingly or keep happy by promoting them if they apply to do so.

    Pros

    Streame line sales and inventory
    Room for advancement without formal education
    Competitive pay

    Cons

    Time off, and sometimes working over your shift
    Some facilities do not have great execution or communication (mine is the best I have seen however)
    There are some cases with networking for promotions

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Need for more formalized and documented communication
    More flexibility with merchandising vs. transition plans
    Focus more on ability to preform than those who network into positions
