I have been working at Sam's Club full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

Getting promoted is not to hard as long as you are smart and make good decisions. Pay is for a retail establishment. Assistant managers can make up to 60000, and some can get up to a 25% bonus.

Cons

The higher you move up, the more you feel threatened about your employment. As a ft or pt associate, you feel more secure.

Advice to Management

More training for management. Trial by error is not the best way too learn. It's effective, but no body wants to learn that way.

I have been working at Sam's Club part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

It gives good hours and room for advancement through the company.

    Cons

The hours are capped each week at 33 hrs when you are part-time, which you are when you start. The members are sometimes hateful and rude, but that's just the world. Management is not kind once you are not making your daily quota.

    Advice to Management

Upper management, probably won't listen since you've been doing this for so long, needs to understand the limitations on a person. They ask the best out of every individual and only pay them 33 hrs a week when the company makes billions each year.

  2. Helpful (3)

Revolving door, low pay, don't care about associates promotion.

I worked at Sam's Club full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

It was a good job for a short term basis. Keeps you on your feet and busy. Not too much brain work required to have this job.

    Cons

They expect more out of you than you can finish in an 8 hour day. No overtime; you will get written up! No 401k matching, you pay for your own health & dental. Lowest wages in the industry. They rarely if ever give you the full $.60 a year raise. Basically, you are looked at as replaceable, and they will fill your spot with someone else.

    Advice to Management

Value your key employees, especially the older ones who outperform their younger counterparts.
