Former Employee - General
Former Employee - General

Pros

Great growth potential if you are willing to work hard and want to learn. Everything is earned. Great relationships built with peers and within the local communities that you work.

Cons

Culture of the company is becoming blurred the further they expand and the further they get away from Mr. Sams teachings.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reconnect with the culture that made your company great. Figure out how to still maintain the "small" company feel even as you get even larger.

Current Employee - Team Leader in Vacaville, CA

    Pros

    Nothing good at this time.

    Cons

Telling us that they don't have hours for your department. But want you to push your team to work harder and smarter with out getting hurt and just get the work out on the floor. Sad that you know your department makes money but they don't care how much you make. You only get so many hours for that department. So you have to push your team so hard they are getting hurt and they tell you that's there job and they need to push them self.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat Teamleader with respect instand of doormats and robots. Quit push them to coach there team if they don't hurry up and fill the floor. What happen to respecting the invidual in stand of making money. That's all you worry about.

Current Employee - Meat Cutter in West Jordan, UT

    Pros

Flexible schedule, lots of different departments to help find something that is for you.

    Cons

Work lots of holidays and every weekend. Very poor sick pay policy.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

"Listen to your associates. They are your best idea generators." Sam Walton. This company no longer cares what its associates think. All they care from the top down is what their boss thinks. Nobody has any voice in how this company is ran. Its all high level executives who haven't worked in a store environment in 10 years trying to pretend that they know what is best for the company.
