I have been working at Sam's Club part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    Coworkers were like family.

    Cons

Where do I begin! Working at Sam's was hell! Management was awful, poor leadership and horrible scheduling. Always understaffed at cashier, lot positions causing long lines and unhappy customers; cashiers, customer service and supervisors get the short end of the stick. Managers come off as annoyed, unwilling to help. At a larger scope, good ole' Walmart has finally crossed the line, company focus has switched from customer satisfaction to sales increase. The increased pressure to meet weekly goals puts unnecessary pressure and stress on associates and takes away from the customer experience.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Attitude reflects leaderships, drop the sass and treat your employees with respect. In return they might actually enjoy their job, work a little hard and crack a smile.

I have been working at Sam's Club full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Decent pay if your salaried compared to other retailers. Bonuses if your store does well. Decent initiatives for hourly associates.

    Cons

Once you become salaried forget having work life balance. Forget having any sanity. Your constantly under scrutiny unless your the market team pet. If you want a day off, and you ask for it off a month in advance, it almost never happens. Forget going home after your 10hrs....your salaried remember :)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The Market Team needs to practice respect for the individual instead of walking around gloating about how many associates they made cry. They need to be consistent during their tours instead of holding personnel vendettas because you didn't bow in their presence. Teach, train, & develop should apply to them not finding pets and manipulate the system to their advantage because of their authority positions. At the end of the day your loyal salaried managers are always the ones they mistreat the most. Despite the horrible behavior from the market team the company itself is still a good place for hourly associates to work at. Too bad you have people that abuse their authority.
