I worked at Samaritan Health Services full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Modern equipment, fulfills intermediate needs to stabilize patients and then send them somewhere else.

    Cons

Classic case of a corporate office with no regard to patients or the community that puts bottom line above all else.
In an effort to improve profits the Corporation laid off 18 other senior personnel in the nursing staff alone. Nurses with more than 10 years experience in that hospital were let go because it was cheaper to hire graduate nurses.
Not only have nurses left but to doctors have also cut ties with the hospital. Local people will drive 50 miles to a different hospital. In 2011 the hospital went from being one of the top in the area to one of the worst.
Advice to Graduate Nurses: if you're looking for a long time stable employer looks somewhere else. You're not a valued resource to this Corporation and they will throw you under the bus.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You need to fit patient care ahead of your bottom line. You eliminated most of your senior people and when you did that you lost more than people you lost experience. He took a wonderful place to work, a trusted are the community, and for a few dollars and cents you through it all away. One person in the emergency room was almost begging to be taken to another hospital because her feelings were that she came to North Lincoln Samaritan Hospital to die. That's rather extreme and this was an elderly an individual but a longtime resident of Lincoln city.

I have been working at Samaritan Health Services full-time for less than a year

    Pros

There is always someone there to help, stafff are friendly, clean, professional. They care about their employess and not only on the job. They care about the community. They keep their grounds immaculate. They provide fine wages and compensation packages. Clinic managers are highly qualified. Doctors and nursing staff work hard to mainain educational goals.

    Cons

Poor flexibility regarding hourly schedules for those who need full time work but can't work five days per week.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more flexible with the clinics that are experiencing extreme surges in patient explosions. Nursing staff needs to increase and more 10 hour shifts need to be available. Also, make sure the clinics have the support they need just like the staff in the hospital.
