I worked at Samsung Electronics America full-time (more than 5 years)

Pros

I was a senior manager for five years. Samsung managers from Korea have an extraordinary capacity to focus on their own agenda to get the next promotion and possibly return to Korea. It is a pity this company is deemed the best lot from Korea.

Cons

If you can appreciate command-and-control culture; if you buy into a hybrid organized crime-military hierarchy; if you have no other place to be gainfully employed; then, Samsung may be a good way station until you find the next employer.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Go out and see the world around you more often, instead of looking to your minders in Korea HQ. Smell the flowers; walk on autumn foliage on the ground; have you any decency to treat others as you yourself would like to be treated?

Good benefits, but a lot of bullying and office politics.

I worked at Samsung Electronics America full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    -Decent salary.
-Good benefits - insurance (health, dental, vision, life), a lot of vacation time (if you are allowed to use it), annual gifts, etc.
-Stability for now due to the boom in the mobile industry. But remember BlackBerry...
-Access to new smartphones in development. This does get old fast.

    Cons

-A lot of bullying and office politics. From being at different companies, it seems particularly severe here.
-Samsung Mobile is ultimately a Korean-owned company with key executives and managers on assignment from Korea. The people from Korea tend to value unquestioning loyalty and working long hours (inefficiently) while sacrificing personal life.
-The mobile industry overall can be limiting. The pace is fast and the technical complexity high, so few people are really in control. In the rush, people find themselves in small boxes and have trouble getting out. It can be pretty depressing to hear a veteran manager saying he doesn't have many places to go.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Curb bullying and office politics. Develop some more positive and meaningful goals such as making the company a happy place to work and creating quality products. Try to clean things up instead of always rushing. Listen to the grunts doing the actual dirty work. If you are a leader, have some skin in the game.

I worked at Samsung Electronics America full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Pay rate is very high and benefits are very good--they essentially are buying your loyalty.

    Cons

Intense pace, management focus is on the business result above all else, employees are not highly valued but viewed as a resource to be used up and then gotten rid of. You should well understand your personal value system, because at Samsung it is Company and Work above everything else. How can a company that is so successful make it's employees feel like they haven't accomplished anything?
