Current Employee - Field Sales Manager

I have been working at Samsung Mobile full-time for more than 8 years

Pros

Great health benefits and the ability to use new technology before anyone else. Working from home can be another perk that comes with the job.

Cons

Limited growth, small territory, micro managed with GPS and time tagging, very long hours, stress due to chaotic changes that often make no logical sense. No travel and no fun. This used to be a great place to work. It's very disappointing.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Blanket approaches to big issues don't work.
Promote from within.
Push back on unreasonable requests from HQ in Korea and explain WHY.
There are cultural differences that need to be understood by both sides.
Stop manipulating numbers, if you play long enough, anything can be made to look good or bad.
Don't hire so quickly!
If you need merchandising, hire a third party, not seasoned professionals.

Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at Samsung Mobile full-time for more than a year

    Pros

1 Test new technology before it hits the market
2 Benefits are actually quite good

    Cons

    1 Long hours
2 Punishes creative and original thinking
3 No opportunity to move upwards, managers are brought in from Korea rather than promoted from within
4 There is little to no on job training and external training is actually frowned upon because time is taken away from working
5 Promotions are done purely on time worked at company rather than performance or knowledge
6 Quality Assurance Engineer title is a disgrace to engineers, this should actually be more of a "Manual Tester" position, there is no engineering or critical thinking involved and no problem solving required
7 Most communique is done in Korean, so if you are not a Korean speaker you will under-perform and be left in the dark

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

1 Do not micromanage your employees, respect them and listen to their feedback.
2 Hard work and overtime does not equal success

I have been working at Samsung Mobile full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Relatively easy interview, Benefits, Flexible time-off policies.

    Cons

This is Korea based company, meaning all important decisions come from HQ Korea. Plus if you speak Korean, their expectation on work load increases. Ready to be HQ Korea's puppet. Typical Asian style work environment.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

HR/Management need to watch out who's being discriminated.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Neutral Outlook
    No opinion of CEO
