    Pros

Overall the people who work at the Center are passionate, energenic, happy, and truly care about the organization and the children it serves.

    Cons

Compensation and benefits are not ideal but seem competitive with local non-profits.

    Advice to Management

Management has improved under the new CEO. My recommendation for management would be to Spend some additional money to offer a better retirement plan to your employees. I think the added cost will ultimately help reduce turnover.

    Pros

Though pay is low, they manage to keep employee responsibility for health coverage very reasonable. Also, helping the kids grow and succeed is very rewarding.

    Cons

They have such a high turn over rate that they view employees as completely dispensable. Upper management acknowledges the pay is poor, but feels if anyone has a problem with making $1-2 an hour less than average that they are in effect, being petty. I have known employees who are now working for other facilities making more than $5 an hour more than they did at SDCC, for essentially the same position. Additionally, without a master's degree or Doctorate, there is no future there
