Job security can be overrated

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsThere is flexibility of schedule and good benefits. You seldom work overtime.

ConsAfter years of doing the same job, it can become second nature and, therefore, the work may not be challenging enough. Unless you are good at taking tests, advancement can be a problem as tests determine whether you are eligible for a promotion or not (promotions are not merit-based). You work for the government (expect lots of bureaucracy).

Advice to Senior ManagementGet in touch with what your subordinates REALLY do. Management doesn't always know how a specific function is done and this leads to unreasonable requests.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend
