I have been working at San Francisco State full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

It's a large community with pockets of excellence.

    Cons

There's no accountability, allowing very abusive managers to go unchecked. The pay is poor, and there is limited to no opportunity for raises or advancement.

There's an established pattern -- individuals start work here, full of enthusiasm and ideas, and one by one, people learn to stay within certain boundaries. Innovation is beaten out of people. I've never seen anyone successfully work here without following this pattern. Survival requires flying low and below the radar.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Employees need an environment that encourages risk-taking, initiative and independent thought. Financial reward for excellent performance does motivate people to rise even higher, contribute more.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
    Disapproves of CEO
