I worked at San Jose State part-time (more than an year)

Pros

It really is a good networking experience for students if you learn who to talk to, lots of people are willing to help you out as a student and do wish to see you succeed. Also have a pretty flexible schedule and you will gain people, communication, and other basic skills.

Cons

You learn about department/university politics. You'll probably start at minimum wage. Oftentimes, you may find yourself doing the work of your coworkers who are full-time staff members with tenure.
