    I worked at Sandia

    Pros

    Great pay
Nice easy going environment (depending on department)
    Working alongside very intelligent people
Environment that fosters education and excellence
    Looks amazing on a resume

    Cons

Sandia National Laboratories was by far the best place I ever worked. The pay was good considering I was living in Albuquerque with my salary was more than enough to pay my bills. I was able to move around quite a bit and learn many different skills and software.

My main complaints are the impossible requirements Sandia has in place in order to be considered for full time employment. The GPA requirements make little sense to me, and they will not even consider a person whom has worked there for years as a contractor simply because their GPA is a 3.5 and not a 3.7? Sandia hiring practice is now about who you know, and it doesn't seem to be so much about actual skill, which I find very disheartening. And lastly, it is very easy to grow stagnant here especially when not given meaningful tasks.

I feel that many of the engineering departments are wonderful to work in. The business departments-not so much. The assignments constantly change with little or no guidance for the business interns.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Dispose of the GPA requirements for hiring new employees, and be more open to hiring UNM graduates
Fire employees who are dead weight just collecting paychecks
Utilize the interns and give them meaningful tasks without overloading them
Put the most competent people in management
Start working on innovative projects again
