Sandy Spring Bancorp – “OK place to learn the ropes in financial planning and asset management.

Jan 14, 2009

3.0

Sandy Spring Bancorp Assitant Portfolio Manager in Annandale, VA:   (Past Employee - 2007)

Pros

It was a nice place to learn the financial services industry. The employees other than a few at the top were great to work with. I would hope that the company would advance its employees more quickly than they do for good performance.

Cons

The pay is not very good. Raises were not given consistently and the partners kept most of the money. The bonus structure was flawed and did not recognize each employee for their efforts or accomplishments. The office location was not in a good part of town but I beleive they have now moved the headquarters to McLean which would be a big improvement.

Advice to Senior Management

They need to listen to employee feedback more and to let people run with ideas themselves more than they do. Many people had good suggestions which were not followed up on or put in place.
