I have been working at Sandy Spring Bancorp

Pros

A great place learn the business. They make sure you get the proper training and really are attentive to your growth and want you to succeed. Benefits are better then you will get at most companies.

Cons

The average age is on the high side so if you are young and like to work with a younger work force you might want to consider somewhere else. If you are serious about your career and want to learn then the con is not important. Also, be prepared for a ton of meetings...

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire more young professionals to compensate for an ageing workforce.

I have been working at Sandy Spring Bancorp full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Great hours and pay for the amount of work. The lobby is open from 9-3 M-F and 9-12 on Saturday, which makes for a short and easy day. Also, their sales goals are not very aggressive and with good leadership/coaching skills they can easily be made.

    Cons

-Management is not open to new ideas and being more aggressive to gain market share.
-Their platform system is very outdated
-They do not have development/coaching goals for the branch staff, which makes it hard to development your staff since they are not used to be coached on a regular basis.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start holding your front line associates accountable for referrals and sales goals to help gain market share. Also, develop a coaching model so that your leaders can start to coach their employees on a regular basis.
