Pros

Fellow Faculty members, location, vision of the school

I worked at Santa Barbara City College full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

You are concidered a state employee. Benefits and time off are outstanding. The location couldnt get any better! Only having to deal with the students 40 weeks a year is nice.

    Cons

Way to much drama. Most of my co-workers were lazy, and because i did my job i was talked about behind my back. Always having to worry about state bugget cuts, and if they would effect community colleges.

I have been working at Santa Barbara City College

    Pros

Great benefits, pretty good salary, a beautiful location, right across the street from the beach in Santa Barbara. The student body is also interesting and it's a stimulating environment to work in.

    Cons

Because staff members can get permanency after a year there is sometimes a level of complacency with staff members who have been there for decades and seem to have lost motivation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It would be nice if there were more collaboration and knowledge sharing between departments across campus, both on the academic and administrative side.
