Pros

positive work environment, beautiful location, institution upholds high ethical standards, i got a lot of hands-on experience, met wonderful people and made great connections. all around the best work experience ive ever had, out of 7 jobs

Cons

they use Groupwise for their email client, which many people find frustrating, not user friendly, and out of date. Raiser's Edge is another program used internally that is tedious and not very efficient, slowing you down and wasting valuable work time

Advice to Management

provide better cloud storage

    Pros

The warmth of students and their eager attitudes about learning at SCU is inspiring. It was a joy to engage in intellectual pursuits with all the fine young people who attend this school, whether they were part of my particular department or from the wider University. The SCU student is highly engaged and also seeks deeper values in life. My own intellectual knowledge increased and solidified while preparing and teaching courses over the years, but the emotional and spiritual depth of many students was what appealed to me the most. If you plan to be tenured, then this is a terrific place to hone your skills alongside great colleagues. Your salary will be decent and the rewards go far beyond money.

    Cons

Over the years I observed as a faculty member, the middle and sometimes upper administration increased its involvement regarding decisions on a departmental level. The faculty and Chairs know far better how to steer the course of each department and what skills and courses are required to achieve a career in their particular fields. The continuing struggle between faculty and administration is both tiring and detrimental and not in the best interests of the students who are ultimately the customers.

    Advice to Management

Find out the results of the education your students are receiving and how well that education has been preparing them for graduate school and their work life beyond the University. Back out of micromanaging each department, because the quality of the SCU undergraduate education will ultimately suffer if you don't.
