Current Employee - Tutor in Santa Clara, CA
Current Employee - Tutor in Santa Clara, CA

I have been working at Santa Clara University part-time (more than an year)

Pros

Very flexible with hours for students, easy to get shift changed

Cons

Very bad pay for tutoring. I know it's through the school but $9.50 for a job that is worth around $20 at least is just not cutting it. Especially when much easier jobs get paid around the same amount as tutors.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Raise the Tutor's salaries or more people will leave like me.

I worked at Santa Clara University part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Flexible schedule. Interesting people to work with. Beautiful networking opportunities if you work in a department you don't usually interact with. For example, might benefit to work in a business department as an English major. Cool.

    Cons

Downsides...hmmm, not many. Maybe feeling like they're a little phoney about being sustainable. So much paper waste even though they're supposedly so green. Kind of a bummer.

I worked at Santa Clara University part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Flexible hours, great weather (aside from winter quarter), fun staff, and solid hourly pay. You can also get a lot of studying and homework done during shifts, which is a nice perk for students. This is an ideal on-campus job for students looking to make good money in a stress-free environment!

    Cons

The opening shift can be brutal thanks to the undesirable task of removing tarps from the pool. Winter gets awfully cold, but that's honestly the only downside to the job.
