One of the great places to work - but not without some compromises

  • Comp & Benefits
  • Work/Life Balance
  • Senior Management
  • Culture & Values
  • Career Opportunities

I have been working at Sapient Global Markets full-time for more than a year

Pros

- One of the best things about sapient is trainings esp. if you are a fresher. There is no other company that I know investing so much in fresh talent. So, if you join as a trainee, you are a lucky person to get some quality training. Also, they hire trainees from selected top colleges only.

- The work environment and culture is awesome. Some great people with great mentality.

- Good exposure if you get to work in Java technologies. Not much scope for .Net people.

- Salary is ok. However if you are a lateral hire, you can get a very nice offer depending on your skills/knowledge.

- Good exposure to trading and risk management domain. You aren't just a techie nerd, you get to understand business as well. Not all people however would appreciate this fact.

- Good onsite opportunities

- Transport facility is very good.

- Helpdesk system is extremely efficient and good.

Cons

- Not good for all technologies. Especially for .Net, the number of projects and quality of work is not favorable.

- It would take a long time for a fresher to grow in terms of title and pay package.

- Work life balance is completely project dependent. However, in general it is poor. The situation is more grim in Sapient Nitro.

- if you are planning here to settle your career, give it a second thought. Most people who enter with this mindset end up leaving the organization. This trend is however more prevalent in Nitro than in Global markets

- The company is not the "hire N fire" type it used to be. However the management has find find ways to control attrition (in a negative sense) through its policies and actions. You needn't worry if you are a performer though.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

What's the point of hiring great minds at fresher level and then doing nothing to retain the talent. Only few of those great minds stay and reach the upper level in hierarchy.
