Pros

treated like I was truly wanted and appreciated during the hiring process, extremely accomadating with interviews, locations, and times.

Cons

hiring process extremely long and drawn out

Advice to ManagementAdvice

perhaps one face to face interview and more people on the phone interviews to get a wider perspective and shorten the hiring process

I have been working at Save-A-Lot Food Stores full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Corporate culture is friendly and collaborative.

    Cons

Company is in constant transition. Corporate brand identity is not strong. No importance given to strategy or innovation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Without a keen understanding of the corporate identity and target customer it will be very difficult to attract new customers and keep them.

I have been working at Save-A-Lot Food Stores full-time

    Pros

Decent pay. Good benefits. Enjoy most of the people I work with.

    Cons

You're not only the manager, you're the cashier, stocker, janitor...on a typical night, it's you and one cashier in the store, and you're store manager and DM expect the store to look 100% the next day. Which is fine, if you have the time to do it...but you can't have any overtime. So, when things don't get done it falls back on you...and when you work over 40, you're gonna hear about that too. There is no balance in that regard. You just have to choose which of the two you'd rather get yelled at for.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Allow the stores to hire more associates, open up more hours so the managers have time to actually manage the store.
