I have been working at Savvis full-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

Objectively speaking, the company has a nice portfolio of managed services that are on par or better than the competition. The culture is good - sales org is a lot of fun and good work atmosphere. As are the service teams.

Cons

Dysfunctional in the delivery and ops side of the house.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get real about financials. Company needs to invest into R&D to mature it's product set and get to market more quickly. Also needs to focus on profitability - or at least have a plan for it.

    Pros

Good compensation and some people are knowledgeable in their professions

    Cons

Poor management. All yes-men at the top. This company is going nowhere. They're so disorganized that they don't know what they're doing. There's so much in-fighting between groups that nothing gets accomplished.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fire everyone at the director and higher levels, and let CenturyLink take over.

I have been working at Savvis as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

The atmosphere of the business is very friendly and comfortable. It is a complex business model, so it is always a challenge to keep making yourself better.

    Cons

There are a lot of employees, so it is easy to get caught up in the mix and get lost in all the commotion. If you are not willing to learn, the pace of this business will pass you up.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make more of a connection with your subordinates and make them feel like they are a useful part of the team.
