I have been working at Schlumberger

    Pros

Schlumberger is the larger than it three main competitors combined and generally has the best technology, products and services at its disposal. It is also well known for its strong emphasis on safety, comprehensive benefits for its employees and intensive management systems.

    Cons

Very weak individuals in mid- and line-management, with a real deficit of leadership and people management skills at these levels. Not all apects of business management should focus on short term revenues and numbers in a database, as is the prevailing management philosophy in most operational matters.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Senior and middle management need much more engagement in developing the leadership and people development skills of the managers below them.

I have been working at Schlumberger

    Pros

working for schlumberger makes more aware of technology. has very good tools for directional drilling and logging. after recent merges with major bit company Smith and mud logging company Geoservices Schlumberger become more powerful.

    Cons

If you are a drilling engineer you will be looking forward to be involved more in drilling operations. Service DEs are more expected to well planning which is not really drilling engineering.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

may be company should hire more advanced drilling engineers and really challenge them and get a real drilling company image.
