I have been working at Schlumberger

Pros

Compensation, stock benefits, training, relocation.

Cons

Reinforcement of policies, zero tolerance rules, even if Schlumberger is not at fault. Lack of sleep, fatigue. Schlumberger has a blind eye when it comes between profit vs. safety.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Manage employees hours better (Engineers / Specialist). Enforce 16 hour rule. Respect your workers. Give actual time off, improve the Quality of Life. Take care of the chicken and not just the golden egg.

Technical career ladder as well as management ladder
Coworkers having extensive backgrounds and education
    Interesting projects to work on
People are from different nationalities making us a true global company
Schlumberger tends to do the right thing vs. our competition being a little shady

    Cons

Size eliminating sometimes the visibility of projects and the importance of these
Management being too centralized on objectives and not listening to people on the mfg floors and their needs
Size not allowing for quick decisions
Too technical on all aspects instead on the required aspects. Sometimes a small decision becomes an odyssey

I have been working at Schlumberger

    Pros

The exposure to different places, cultures, people. Schlumberger has a truly multicultural environment, with people from all over the world at any location or office. The training is the best in the industry. The advancement opportunities are plenty, especially for those who perform well. There always is a possibility to change during the career and do something new or do the same in a different place, with different people.

    Cons

Personal life has to be sacrificed at the beginning of the career, but eventually it is possible to find that balance.
Compensation is generally very good, except in the USA and Europe.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay closer attention to people's needs
