Schlumberger Field Engineer:   (Past Employee - 2009)

Pros

There is a huge potential for growth and it can give you the chance to see the world. The training one receives is top notch and is transferable to other jobs throughout the oil and gas industry. If you are looking a for a challenge then SLB is the place for you. Few people can handle the rigorous training let alone the extremely long days and the time away from families. That being said.

Cons

Well I was recently laid off despite being a good employee and hoping to retire from the company, SLB decided to keep people how had poor attitudes, did not really like the job and were seeking other employment, and people who wee not fully trained is the job. To this day I have not been given a good reason why I was let go before these other people and that is frustrating. To me it seems that SLB is not about people being there number one resource, but about cutting senior people to cut costs and taking their chances with inexperienced people

Advice to Senior Management
