I worked at Schlumberger as an intern (Less than a year)

Pros

I worked in the research division. And it was a very good work experience. Flexible schedule, freedom to choose your own research path, good interaction with boss, problem oriented work with a good sense of direction... Loved the internship! Good pay too.

Cons

Coming from a math background, there weren't too many colleagues in the same field. Most other interns worked in labs.

I worked at Schlumberger full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I personally would not work here. They hustle and bustle about, and we certified, incredibly educated engineers were payed but a pittance.

    Cons

The challenges are getting noticed. They don't promote very often, like ever. They promote moving around with very minimal pay raises.

    Advice to Management

Pay more to the engineers. They are highly educated and contribute the most to your bottom line. Respect them more.

I worked at Schlumberger full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Benefits are decent, but not the best. Worldwide reach. Meet interesting people from many countries. Opportunities for expatriate positions.

    Cons

Too bureacratic. If you are not in the right group, you will go nowhere. Any one connected person can ruin it for you at will. Known to underpay, and overexpect...
