Pros

The owners of Scholars Inn are great people--you can't find many better restaurant owners in Bloomington. The product is also among the best in town, I never tired of eating at the bakehouse and restaurant even though I was there 5 days a week.

Cons

I had hoped to have the opportunity to be promoted within the company after completing my degree at IU. This never happened, but I suppose I didn't pursue it to my full capacity.

Advice to Management

Don't let good people go.

    Pros

Bakehouse is a fast-paced work environment. The unorganized structure keeps workers on their toes as mini-crises pop up. Be positive and charming-you'll get the job.

    Cons

No breaks are permitted. No smoke breaks either. The majority of the staff are the eclectic, burnt-out, earthy type. Communication becomes difficult.

    Advice to Management

More guidance from senior management would be good. Middle management positions are loaded with extra tasks continuously. This could be balanced by utilized lower level managers and empowering staff.
