Scholastic – “Scholastic is a great place to launch a career in children's book publishing -- if you can get your foot in the door”

Pros

Scholastic is a really fun and exciting place to work! From the moment you enter the doors at 557 Broadway, you immediately feel immersed in a paradise of children's books. The bright colors, film screens, and other decorations immediately distinguish Scholastic as a unique type of corporation, one which is intensely mission-driven; and that same commitment to youth is clearly evident in the books the company publishes.

Cons

The salary is not very good (though this is more of an industry-wide issue) and it can be difficult to get a foot in the door without a connection.

Advice to Senior Management

I've noticed that few interns ultimately end up working at the company full-time (few = relative to the number that actually intern there). I would be interested in better understanding why this is the case.
