Good place to get tuition assistance and not be challenged, extremely poorly managed.

I worked at School of Visual Arts

    Pros

Tuition assistance is great after 12 or so months, 401k, insurance, continuing education courses at SVA itself. Free admission to museums and the school itself has good programs.

    Cons

Incompetence is rewarded; diligence and intelligence are punished. No room for growth. Petty rules similar to a daycare. Pay is extremely low compared to other institutes of higher education. This is speaking for an administrative side, not scholastic. Very low level of communication between managers and staff. Decisions are all reactive.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do not make your employees fearful of you. Open communication. Raise the pay. Reward intelligence and diligence and punish the incompetent.
