Pros

People are great and the legacy conditions of the workplace from the founders still exist to some extent. Free soday, pinball, March Madness on TVs around the office are still part of the culture. Hockey tickets and other perks are spread across employees. The anualy President's Club trip is first rate.

Cons

CEO has no clue on how to run a business. He made his "bones" in M&A, and the three acquisitions he has made are absolute disasters. Just ask cutomers of those acquired companies. Respect is a dirty word, and even the best people with years of significant and key contributions to SQI's survival are castigated and cast aside publicly for the smallest of infractions. Employment is a revolving door with middle managers having short careers.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Lift your heads from your monitors and Excel spreadsheets and talk to those in the know. The answers are NOT in a spreadsheet but rather in the heads of the 100's of people SQI now employes. To the Board: Replace the CEO before it is too late. CFO should not be far behind. SQI is a culdron of creativity held captive by the all consuming desire of the CEO to get credit for everything good and no blame for anything bad. I've heard his investor speach, and I see how he now takes credit for those things he used to apose, i.e., if Steve had his way, there would be no SQI. He definitely knows how to climb on the backs of others.

    Pros

There are restrooms available to the employees during all working hours.

    Cons

    You will need the restrooms.

Very unsophisticated and patronizing execs. These folks seem to have come off the middle school playgrounds just last week - and they were the bullies. When they meet with honest criticism, they cannot stand it (especially the CEO, who cannot even articulate a basic company value proposition) and firings take place over the smallest and silliest of disagreements. This exec team needs more seasoning and/or remedial education before they are entrusted with more investor money, customer trust and employee loyalty. Basically, there are no "A" players at the top and the Board needs to recognize the limitations of the management team.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

No hope here - float your resume and move along.

    Pros

Free soda, pinball machines, casual dress.

    Cons

Terrible Management. Antiquated architecture. Claim to be agile but not really. Managers are not concerned with people growth. Sr. management is too wrapped up with obtaining other companies to inflate revenue in order to become a mid cap company. This strategy has caused their core product and new products to suffer greatly in the quality and functionality department.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start over. Grow your employees, there are a lot of great people there. LISTEN to people's suggestions and ideas!
