I have been working at Scotiabank full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    - Solid team of professionals
    - Strong executive leadership
    - Good opportunities for advancement

    Cons

    - Big organization means bureaucracy and a certain amount of red tape
    - Not as much cross-training or opportunities to cross business lines as there should be

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Improvements to employee compensation should be explored. Initiatives to cross-train employees across business lines should be encouraged and championed as a matter of corporate policy and culture. Health and fitness initiatives should be encouraged. These measures may cost up front but they really are business enablers - they will improve overall employee satisfaction, quality and capacity of work.
