I have been working at Scotiabank
Pros – -Work-life balance
-Job stability
-Good training ground
-Good place to come if you are in middle of your career
-Good place if you land in a looking forward dept. or one with resources (i.e. Scotia Capital, Corporate Offices)
-Great place if you are a new Canadian (mainly if you come from Spanish speaking countries)
Cons – -Bureaucracy
-Technology is under par - cost control culture
-Siloed thinking
-Not a great place if you are recently out of school or have fast track expectations
-Career development is pretty much up to you (network, network, network...)
Advice to Senior Management – Come downstairs. The world is changing at surprising speed and it seems you guys are lagging behind. Invest in your people; upgrade your technology. Maintain the work culture; fire bully managers.
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend
