Pros

Creative, passionate people who care deeply about their company and its brands' subject matter of Food, Lifestyle and Shelter. Amazing city to plant its headquarters in, Knoxville is a leader in quality of life, cost of living affordability, etc.

Cons

Sometimes slow to adopt new(er) technologies and practices. Many layers of bureaucracy decisions must pass through before impact.

    Pros

Food Network, HGTV, Cooking Channel, DIY Network and Travel Channel. :0) Friendly people, happy environment, wonderful workplace...the digital teams are making a concerted effort to move towards an agile environment, new York city's food network offices are extremely forward looking and have strong leadership. The offices in nyc and Knoxville are top notch facilities and the brands really are a part of the corporate culture.

    Cons

Work and promotions centralized through Knoxville, Tennessee. Differences in work attitudes between the north and the south are obvious, new York tends to work 10am to 7pm and Tennessee tends to be more 9:30 - 12:00 then 1:00 - 5:00 pm (blanket statement alert), visiting offices is strongly encouraged as the email/outlook culture is alive and well. But nothing most large organizations and multiple stakeholders don't encounter.

    Advice to Management

keep the open dialogue with employees, keep up the great work

    Pros

They really want you to succeed in your career. With the internship program, they give you the same work as they would any full-time employee (and they pay you). From what I've heard, they love to pull from their internship program when hiring new full-time employees (especially since they're headquartered in Knoxville, unlike every other media company out of NY or LA). The people are really friendly, and care about each other.

    Cons

Very hierarchical structure where you have to make sure you go through specific channels so as not to upset people (by "going above their heads").
