I have been working at SeaChange full-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

Unified group working to make products for the industry.. Multiple individuals trying to cover a slowly shrinking market share. Ad products are strongly held as an industry standard.

Cons

Complete OJT, team learn under fire. There is a need of a solid commitment to the employee. Smoke and mirrors tend to be expected

    Pros

Not many "pros" still exist. New leadership has never run a company before, and they have no concept of how bad they are failing (or how to fix it). Competitors are winning head-to-head, and their biggest customers are leaving them. They stopped innovating and delivering quality products years ago. This once was a proud place to work, but this company has now become a Harvard case study on what not to do. Best people are leaving and/or already gone.

    Cons

    - Poor management
    - Unwilling to develop/invest in any new product/service without guaranteed revenue to offset the investment first.
    - Zero product management
    - Bonuses nonexistent for years
    - Zero concern for the employees
    - Sales drives the business direction of the company
    - Ineffective people are put into positions to succeed the quality people that leave the organization.

    Pros

Get to work with and even implement some cool technology. There are some very good, bright people working at SeaChange.

    Cons

Extremely poor communication across the corporation.
Severe lack of accountability, especially among salesmen.
    Very broken culture.
    No sense of strategic direction.
Management that views employees as interchangeable parts to be used and discarded.
No recognition or reward for hard work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pick a direction for the company. Decide if the company is simply going to work project by project, or try to make more of a shrink wrap product. Even if the direction turns out not to be the best direction, it will be better than waffling and spinning around as the company is doing now. Require Engineering and Finance approval of all contracts before signing. Communicate at least monthly with the rank and file.
