Pros – Competent immediate first level management. Generally there is less politics and a more professional culture among engineers, although there are exceptions to the rule. Ideal for innovating new ideas, professional growth. Tons of different products and customers to choose from. Vertically integrated organization with opportunity for interaction with various engineering functions.

Cons – 1. Some among middle management, particularly those who have gotten too big too fast get cocky and very presumptuous.
2. Promotions are arbitrary, raises are rare.
